Company History

 
Joining her husband, Kim on Buffalo hunts in Zimbabwe’s Zambezi Valley African Video Productions owner, Mandy Robertson’s love of filming and photography commenced.
Having developed an interest in wildlife and filming over 2 decades, Mandy's career path culminated in the creation of this safari filming company.

Today the entire Robertson family are involved in the safari business, sharing a love of the wildlife and the African wilds.

Kim assists with the running of the company and specialises in the recording of sound as well as being an experienced cameraman.
Rad, their eldest son has spent 3 years as an apprentice Professional Hunter in Zambia where he’s able to fulfill his lifelong dream.

Guy is a competent cameraman as well as a passionate and skilled photographer.

Nicky Crausaz joined African Video Productions in 2000. She is both a highly skilled videographer and editor and has vast  dangerous game experience. Confident and competent, she has earned a popularity with clients and safari operators as an invaluable asset on safari. Remaining calm in the toughest situations she never fails to capture the action.

All African Video Productions cameraman have an extensive knowledge of the African bush, camera techniques and the many other aspects required of a competent videographer.

Much is required of a safari cameraman and the ability to merely operate a video camera is not sufficient when capturing the many facets of a Big game safari.
Each of our cameramen completes an intensive, structured training programme.
Apart from being required to capture the necessary footage he needs excellent social skills in order to be able to socialise with both the client and the hunting operator for as long as 30 days at a stretch.

His daily routine begins before the client is at the fireside and ends once the client has retired for the day. Daily notes, camera maintenance and planning take up the remainder of the day. Often required to assist the professional hunter and always ready to fly to some obscure airport at short notice, these individuals need to be highly adaptable.
Presentable, good-natured and multi-skilled, African Video Productions cameramen are professionals in their sphere and have earned the reputation of being an asset on any safari.

Associations

African Video Productions supports ethical hunting methods and they remain members of PHASA - the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa.

We have been exhibiting at the Safari Club International hunting conference since 2001.
Our 2010 booth can once again be found in the registration area. ( Booth 5613)

For the 4th consecutive year we are donating a 7 day filming safari.
This is a valuable addition to any hunter’s expedition.

SCI Filming Donation 2010 details:

Have your unique African safari filmed by an experienced, professional cameraman.
African Video Productions will capture your once-in-a-lifetime African experience, including the flora and fauna, social scenes, camp life, as well as the anticipation and thrill of the hunt.

The raw footage will be skilfully edited to African music, including special effects and titles.
Presented in a personalised cover, your DVD will be an exclusive memento worth passing down to future generations.

Included:
Hire of an equipped cameraman for 7 days.
Editing of the raw footage into DVD format.
Professional narration.
2 copies of the final product.
Postage of 2 copies of the final product.

Not included:
Cameraman’s transportation to and from the hunting area.
Cameraman’s meals and accommodation.
Observer rate and Visa cost, if applicable.

The client is responsible for any additional travel and accommodation costs incurred, should the booked safari dates and or flight itineraries be altered.
African Video productions retains the rights to the raw footage.Please note:
If the filming period is extended beyond the 7 days, African Video Productions advertised  rates will apply.
